BIM for refurbishment projects

Effective use of BIM was a key factor in delivering a complicated extension to the existing museum building in central Northampton. Working in close collaboration with the Architect, an accurate Revit model was developed by BCAL using integrated design software for a hybrid reinforced concrete & steel framed superstructure with piled foundations. BIM enabled the design team to carefully consider the nuances of the design & in particular the various interfaces with the existing building. 3D data in both native file format & model renditions were provided to subcontractors to facilitate their design & installation during construction as standard.
