Heritage & Restoration
The restoration of buildings requires particular construction skills. Converting properties to new uses and updating to modern standards is often a major challenge. This is particularly so when the original character of the building is to be preserved. We have worked on numerous listed buildings and have experience with English Heritage.
A broad base of commissions has enabled the practice to gain an in depth understanding of the problems involved. Completed projects include:
- Restoration of the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough
- Conversion of old farm buildings into classrooms at Moulton College
- Re-roofing and stonework repair to offices
- Reconstruction following a fire of the thatched roofed cricket pavilion at Wellingborough School
- Restoration work on a heavily corroded pre-cast concrete frame to the multi-storey teaching block at Southfield’s School
- Repair of old stone walls and roofs to church buildings
- Partial rebuild and repair of fire damaged factories and a large retail outlet (87,000 sq.ft) in London
- Numerous barn conversions into dwellings
